Sidonie de la Courcel is the oldest daughter of Ysandre de la Courcel and Drustan mab Necthana, and older sister of Alais de la Courcel. She is the Dauphine of Terre d'Ange during the second half of Kushiel's Legacy, and is the primary love interest to Imriel nó Montrève de la Courcel during the events of Kushiel's Justice before marrying him in Kushiel's Mercy.

Sidonie is described as appearing almost completely d'Angeline due to her fine features and fair coloring, apart from her dark brown (almost black eyes) which are inherited from her Cruithne father, the Cruarch of Alba. Like her mother the Queen of Terre d'Ange, Sidonie has the golden L'Enver hair with the long neck and straight brow of a Courcel.

That decade of reprieve is ended when Melisande Shahrizai de la Courcel informs Phèdre nó Delaunay de Montrève that her son, Imriel nó Montrève de la Courcel is missing from his hiding place, the Shrine to Elue in Landras and begs her aid in finding him in return for knowledge that would free her childhood friend, Hyacinthe
Sidonie is a child for the duration of this book, and stays with her mother in the City of Elua while Phedre and Joscelin Verreuil embark on their daring journey to save the son of a traitor, find the Name of God, and break the Angel's curse that binds the Master of the Straights.

Sidonie is very cool publicly, choosing to remain calm and level headed in all matters. She has a strong mind for strategy, and is capable of predicting the moves of those around her with surprising clarity.
