Joscelin swears to not say anything to Delaunay.  He admits to Alcuin and Phèdre he has pried no further secrets out of Delaunay.  Alcuin admits that he knows what Delaunay is up to and Phèdre, already jealous of their relationship, is angered that he has not shared with her when he promised.  Alcuin is sorry that his relationship has hurt Phèdre and she muses on how the two of them are bound together by Delaunay.  When Delaunay comes upon the two of them he mentions Melisande has stopped by, interested in an assignation.  Melisande contracts her for a private masque on the Longest Night.  Phèdre agrees.
