Summary[]
The pair make their way to the Palace, but Thelesis de Mornay is not available. It is Melisande Shahrizai who finds them and takes them in. She tries to sooth the pair with a cup of tea while she tries to explain the situation. It is only too late that Phèdre realizes that Melisande has drugged them and that it is she is the one who betrayed Delaunay. Melisande admits to knowing all along that Delaunay was Ysandre's protector, just not what he was up to. Phèdre pieces together that she is working with d'Aiglemort, but not why. Melisande wants to know why they were there at the Palace, but Phèdre refuses to tell her.
